Minecraft Will Get New Biome; Fans Have Lots of Feedback
One of the creators of Minecraft showed what a new biome might look like. On this occasion, he asked the players about possible suggestions for improvements.
- One of the developers of Minecraft presented a new biome;
- It's an area covered with mangroves;
- According to players the new biome is too monotonous.
The lead graphic designer working on Minecraft - Jasper Boerstra - shared screenshots and footage of a new biome that will be added to the game in the future. It's an area covered by the so-called mangrove forests.
What does the new biome look like?
Mangrove is an evergreen tree ror shrub that grown on saline sea coasts, partially submerged in water. In the game the biome is thus full of muddy ground crossed by rivers and small bodies of water. The forests are dense and covered with vines.
At the same time, Boerstra asked fans for suggestions on possible changes to this biome. Players instantly showered him with feedback on Twitter and Reddit.
Players have doubts
Most of them immediately pointed out that the presented area seems to be barren and monotonous. The "bare" ground, devoid of any grass or other plants, is particularly striking.
Some also said that the biome is far too dry for a mangrove forest. Many players noticed that trees should grow directly out of water. However, they admitted that this could lead to the creation of a copy of the existing swamp biome.
Some people also drew attention to the appearance of the mud itself. It is supposed to be too indistinct, which makes the whole thing look like the ground lacks proper texture.
Biome is in for a makeover
Boerstra stated that he will take the advice into consideration. He also listed some suggestions that the developers will test in the near future.
The developers want to increase the amount of water present in the forest and enrich the mud with dead plants.
Boerstra also admitted that the recording and screenshots, which he shared, present a very early stage of work on the biome. The changes that await it are to be many.
Unfortunately, for now we do not know when the studio will introduce the new biome to the game. Most likely, however, it will not happen in the near future.
