Mina the Hollower Announced - Shovel Knight Will Have a Successor
The studio responsible for Shovel Knight announces a new game. Mina the Hollower is a retro adventure game.
Yacht Club Games has announced a new title. Mina the Hollower will be a top-down action adventure game reminiscent of Game Boy Color games. This is the developers' first new title since 2014, when they released the award-winning and best-selling Shovel Knight.
After the undeniable success adventures of the shovel-wielding knight, the developers have spent the last few years adding content to that title. However, after eight years and many spin-offs, the time has come for something completely new. Mina the Hollower is described as a chilling action adventure game, maintained in an eight-bit aesthetic adapted to modern standards. The devs claim that they were inspired by such games as Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening or even Bloodborne. They openly say how the aesthetics from iconic horror movies, reminiscent of Dracula or Frankenstein was the basis for the creative process on the new game. On the official website of Yacht Club Games we can find artworks and short fragments of gameplay, which present locations, enemies and bosses.
Like in the case of Shovel Knight the creators have decided to start a fundraiser on Kickstarter. The studio claims that the game will be mostly funded by them, but they are trying to recreate the magic of the first title by including the gaming community in the development process.
Release date of Mina the Hollower has not yet been announced. However, we know that the title will be available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
