Microsoft Battles Cheaters; Millions of Banned Accounts
The fight against Xbox cheaters continues, and Microsoft is declaring success. In a recent report, the company announced that it has banned millions of accounts due to fraudulent or unregulated behavior in the digital space.
Microsoft attaches great importance to taking care of the security of its network services. This is evidenced by the company's latest report on the number of banned accounts. Xbox Transparency Report reveals that Microsoft blocked as many as 4.8 million user accounts in the first half of 2022.
Why such a number?
The large number of cheaters on the Redmond giant's console platform is a side effect of the ever-increasing number of players using Game Pass. The reasons for bans were many, but most were handed out due to sexual content (this issue has not been clarified) and various cheats. Company representatives further claim that among the banned accounts were many fakes.
An uncompromising fight against cheaters
The fight against cheaters on Xbox is effective thanks to, among other things, the use of dual moderation. The first mode - proactive - involves regular analysis of the situation and catching digital threats. Reactive moderation, on the other hand, works based on reports from players. Together they are supposed to result in such a large number of banned cheaters. Microsoft boasts that 99% of all blocked accounts were caught by proactive moderation.
The worst could still come
The company thus emphasizes its efficiency and uncompromisingness in the fight against cheaters. It is quite possible that if Microsoft succeeds in acquiring Activision Blizzard, the problem will grow to even greater proportions.
