MGS and Silent Hill Publisher Will Announce Something Interesting

Konami has announced that it will announce a new project from the popular brand at TGS. According to rumors, it is about remasters of the first three installments of the Metal Gear Solid series.

Konami has decided to turn up the heat ahead of this year's Tokyo Game Show, announcing that it will reveal a new installment of the "globally-loved brand" during the event.

  1. The publisher did not provide any details.
  2. VGC warns fans not to get their hopes up too high, as according to its sources this is to be a smaller game, not a new, high-budget installment of the classic series.
  3. The most likely candidate seems to be a collection containing remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Rumors of such a project emerged yesterday.
  4. According to these reports, the collection will come out for consoles and PC (including on Steam). Each game in the set will be available for purchase separately, but the acquisition of all three will additionally provide access to Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 in versions based on the originals developed for MSX computers.

It's worth mentioning that, according to reliable rumors, Konami also has several major projects in the pipeline. Among them is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, a remake of Silent Hill 2 (on which Polish studio Bloober Team is to work) and an episodic adventure game set in the universe of Silent Hill, developed in cooperation with Annapurna Interactive. However, we won't see these more ambitious projects at the Japanese fair, as Konami wants to announce them during a more international event, such as the PlayStation State of Play or The Game Awards.
