Mass Effect: Andromeda won’t acknowledge any Mass Effect 3 ending

Mass Effect: Andromeda won’t acknowledge any of the available endings of Mass Effect 3 and will start a completely fresh adventure.

Mass Effect: Andromeda—the fourth installment in the bestselling science fiction action RPG series by BioWare, the creators of the Baldur’s Gate and Dragon Age series, among other titles—will not acknowledge any of the endings of Mass Effect 3, BioWare’s head, Aaryn Flynn, told Eurogamer. It seems that BioWare has decided to leave the quite controversial climaxes of the original trilogy behind and let the players focus on what’s ahead. Flynn also said that the plot is constructed “in such a way that allows all of those decisions you made [in Mass Effect 3] to remain intact in the canon of the universe, but also allows a new story to begin”. Mac Walters then added that the chronological order of events is not that important if you consider “how long it takes to travel between galaxies”. What’s interesting, the Ark Theory, about which I wrote last year, doesn’t seem so far-fetched now, especially if you watch the latest E3 trailer. Even more so, should you consider Flynn’s words that there is “a coalition [of Milky Way races]". ARKCON, anyone?

Mass Effect: Andromeda was present at this year’s E3 but the lack of any gameplay footage was surely a disappointment that got people thinking about how well or bad the development is going. It makes sense that Electronic Arts focuses on Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2, both of which are to launch this fall and that’s when we are supposed to learn more about Mass Effect: Andromeda. The game itself is planned to launch in early 2017 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
