Mass Effect: Andromeda apparently drops Denuvo
Since its last update, Mass Effect: Andromeda is no longer protected by Denuvo. BioWare hasn't shared any announcement on that move, so we can't be 100% sure it was intentional.
A couple of days ago Mass Effect: Andromeda received a new patch, which fixed a few bugs, improved stability and facial animations as well as eliminated the issue that prevented some players from completing the story. However, there seems to have been yet another major change, which BioWare was silent about. As noted by DSOGaming, the recent update has apparently completely removed the Denuvo anti-tamper technology from Mass Effect: Andromeda. Provided that this isn’t just an unintentional mistake, it is a similar move to what we saw in the case of a couple of other games, like Rime, Doom, Hitman and Homefront: The Revolution.
Since it first appeared in FIFA 15, back in 2014, Denuvo has evolved into a realy hard nut to crack for hackers, which made several games safe from pirates even for a few months since their releases. However, the Austrian anti-tamper system has lately been less effective – games like Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, Rime, or even Mass Effect: Andromeda (which was later updated to a newer version of Denuvo) were cracked in just several days. Some of the upcoming titles confirmed to use Denuvo are Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Agents of Mayhem and South Park: The Fractured but Whole.
