Mass Effect 5 director addresses Corinne Busche's departure from Dragon Age team
Michael Gamble didn't reassure all Mass Effect fans after the departure of the director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
The director of the Mass Effect series clearly doesn't share the gloomy mood of Dragon Age fans. This is indicated by his posts on X.
Michael Gamble from BioWare studio didn't exaggerate too much. First, he said that he "loves Mass Effect." Later, when asked by one of the website users, "did he have a good week?" (probably referring to the recent departure of Corinne Busche from BioWare), he added that "every week is a good week for him at work" and assured that Brenon Holmes (developer of the next Mass Effect) can confirm this. However, he didn't respond to this "provocation."
It's not much, but it was enough to appease at least some of the fans. Nevertheless many still have doubts, which isn't surprising. From the start, players were skeptical about Dragon Age: The Veilguard - from the ill-fated trailer in June to its November release.
Although the title found a group of fans, Busche's departure, and many earlier reports seem to confirm that the return of Dragon Age didn't meet the expectations of fans and publishers. On Steam, the reviews for the fourth Dragon Age are still "mostly positive," although they are exactly on the border with "mixed" ratings.
In this context (and in light of allegedly unfounded rumors about the closure of BioWare Edmonton), it's no wonder that fans of Mass Effect are also concerned about the future of the studio and their beloved series. A cheerfully optimistic post from the director, which doesn't directly address the game's development progress, isn't sufficient to reassure BioWare fans.
