XCOM Devs Need More Time to Finish Marvel's Midnight Suns
Marvel's Midnight Suns has been delayed again. Firaxis, studio known for the XCOM series, intends to change some things in the project and significantly improve selected elements.
There's something wrong with Marvel's Midnight Suns, a tactical RPG developed by Firaxis, the well-known developers of XCOM. The game has just suffered another delay.
- The developers admitted that they will not be able to meet the release date scheduled for October 7.
- To make matters worse, they did not provide a new date. Instead, they limited themselves to saying that the game will be released in this fiscal year. This means that the game should be released no later than March 31, 2023. However, this only applies to the edition on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The PS4, XONE and Switch versions will be released even later.
- The decision is motivated by the desire to refine the project.
- The fact that the developers are unable to reveal a specific date raises concerns and suggests that the game is far from a level that would satisfy its authors.
Recall that this is not the first such slip. After all, the release was initially planned for March 2022.
It would seem that after years spent developing the XCOM series Firaxis should have no problems working on the next tactical turn-based game. So the reason for the delay is most likely the need to to thoroughly rebuild the project after the first footage of it was met with cold reception.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that in recent weeks the developers have released a number of videos showing the playable characters in action. Among them are: Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Iron Man or Captain America.
