Deadpool Locked in Paid DLC for Midnight Suns so he Wouldn't Steal the Show
One of the developers of Marvel's Midnight Suns revealed that Deadpool was supposed to appear in the basic version of the game. Eventually, he ended up in a paid DLC so that he wouldn't steal the whole show.
Premiere of the tactical RPG Marvel's Midnight Suns for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is coming. Even before the game's debut, we have learned some interesting things. One of them is the answer to the question, why Deadpool will not appear in the basic version of the game, only in a paid DLC included in the Season Pass.
The lead designer of Marvel's Midnight Suns, Jake Solomon, commented on the subject in an interview with PCGamesN. He explains that the introduction of Deadpool into the base game has been considered. However, whenever the character appeared on stage, he stole the whole show. Such a turn of events could not happen due to the developers' desire to create a game in which no character outshines the others.
"The way Marvel presented it: 'Deadpool kind of sucks the air out of the room.' And we [the developers of Midnight Suns - ed. note] stated, 'All in all, this is true,' so we decided to wait with its introduction," Jake Solomon told PCGamesN.
In addition to Deadpool, also Venom, Morbius and Storm will be added to the Season Pass after the game's release. According to Jake Solomon, all of these characters have more screen time than most of the heroes from the base game just thanks to the DLC, because:
"They have three narrative missions dedicated exclusively to them throughout the new story line."
By the way, the developers of the game only recently revealed that The Hulk will appear at launch in the basic version of Marvel's Midnight Suns. Below you'll see him in action on a recording of the stream - the creators present the Hulk at around the 35:00 mark.
The release of Marvel's Midnight Suns for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch consoles is scheduled for 2023.
