Manchester City and Juventus Coming to Fortnite

Football and Fortnite is a combination we wouldn't have expected. Epic Games has partnered with a slew of popular clubs and signed a deal with a living legend of football.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Epic Games has signed a media deal with 23 football clubs and Brazilian football legend Pelé;
  • This comes with new gameplay modes, a themed emoticon and a set of dedicated outfits and crests.

Epic Games starts 2021 with a bang, adding quite a bit of new content to Fortnite, related to... football. On the game's official blog we can read about the details of the action and one thing must be admitted - American developers sure don't beat around the bush.

As many as 23 professional football clubs have signed a media deal with Epic Games, granting the devs the rights to use the crests and outfits representing the teams. We are talking about such teams as Manchester City or creme de la creme of the Italian league (Juventus, A.C. Milan, Inter Milan, AS Roma). The entire list can be found below.

What does this mean for the gamers? From January 23, they will be able to dress their heroes in specially prepared outfits with the crest of their chosen club. An interesting option especially for passionate fans.

In addition to cooperation with the aforementioned teams, Epic Games has also gained permission to use the likeness of the legendary Brazilian footballer Pelé. In connection with this, a special trailer was prepared with the player's narration and an emote called Pelé Air Punch.

Moreover, on January 20, a special Pelé Cup tournament will be launched in the game, the winner of which will receive a Santos FC jersey autographed by the Brazilian striker. Developers have also prepared a new 4 on 4 mode that takes place on an island inspired by football.
