Leonardo DiCaprio is an Oscar winner and an actor with an impressive career who is admired by many cinema goers. Nowadays, he carefully chooses his next roles, deciding only on those that actually interest him, but when he started out, he couldn't afford to be similarly choosy. Because of this, he has projects in his filmography that he isn’t satisfied with. One in particular, in which he starred in 1991.

We are talking about Critters 3, a comedy horror film in which freshly hatched aliens wreak havoc in an apartment block. Participation in this movie was a lifelong lesson for Leonardo DiCaprio – after it, he understood that he couldn’t make a similar mistake again, appearing in an equally bad picture. That's because, quoted in Douglas Wight's book, Leonardo DiCaprio: The Biography, the actor described Critters 3 as one of the worst films ever made.

[Critters 3 is] possibly one of the worst films of all time. I guess it was a good example to look back and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Leonardo DiCaprio summed up the horror in very harsh terms. But his criticism seems to coincide with the general reception of the movie, which hasn’t made a good impression on either reviewers or viewers, most of them don’t recommend it.

But Critters 3 isn;t insignificant in Leonardo DiCaprio's long and impressive career, as it was his movie debut. The actor had previously appeared in TV shows, while this horror film was his first. Better roles, however, didn’t come until a little later in his career.
