Major update to Palworld brings crossplay to all platforms
Today marks the 0.5.0 update for Palworld, which introduces crossplay across all platforms. But that's not all, there are several exciting new features as well.

Today, as part of the major 0.5.0 update, crossplay became available for Palworld. This means that players across Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation can play together. The update also includes a long list of new content, updates, changes, and adjustments. The game has been in Early Access since early last year and still manages to attract a steady player base with consistent updates and news stories. Plus, everyone is still curious about what will happen with the Palworld vs Pokémon patent infringement case.
Major update brings crossplay and more to Palworld today
Palworld’s 0.5.0 introduces a long-awaited feature: crossplay. The game originally launched for Steam and Xbox in early 2024 but eventually shadow dropped for PlayStation 5 in September. Friends playing on different platforms will finally be able to jump into the same world with each other. But that is just the headline, this update comes with plenty of other great new features too.
The Palworld X account shared all the details in a post to the social media platform. Aside from the exciting addition of crossplay, players will now also be able to access a Global Palbox. This feature allows players to upload Pals to a global box and transfer them between worlds, or servers. So, a lot like Pokémon Home. This update also includes something called Dimensional Pal Storage which boasts “ten times the capacity of a regular Palbox.”
Other updates include a photo mode as well as updates to the drafting table that allows players to “combine low-rarity blueprints to create higher-rarity ones…” Players will also be able to focus on their characters appearance, rather than their armour stats. Thanks to a cosmetic armour system, players can change their appearance without impacting their stats.
Palworld and its developer Pocketpair have had a unique year. They quickly became one of the best-selling games of 2024. Now they are getting sued by the world’s most profitable media franchise: Pokémon. And, they started their own indie publishing company: Pocketpair Publishing, that is already working on a few games, including Surgent Studios’ follow-up to Tales of Kenzera: ZAU. It’s to joke about Palworld and say it’s “Pokémon but with guns” but it’s also easy to forget that this is a much smaller team that is genuinely trying to do something new. Plus, they are giving back to other indie developers. Hopefully Pocketpair and Palworld have another good year ahead.
