Xbox Legend Parts Ways With Microsoft After 20 Years
One of the leading figures and father of much of Xbox's success, Larry „Major Nelson” Hryb, has decided to part ways with the American corporation after 20 years of service.
Larry Hryb, also known by his nickname Major Nelson, announced on Twitter that he is leaving Microsoft after 20 years dedicated to the Xbox brand. With Hryb's departure, the company loses not only a true veteran, but also one of the best-known faces of the team.
"I also want to thank the members of the Xbox team for the trust they have placed in me through direct dialogue with our customers. The future of Xbox is bright, and as a gamer, I look forward to seeing how it unfolds.
Thank you and see you online, Larry Hryb
PS The official Xbox podcast will be on hiatus over the summer and will return in a new format," follows the announcement.
We didn't have to wait long for reactions to Hryb's farewell. One of them came from Phil Spencer, Xbox brand director.
Interestingly, even Sony responded to the news of Major Nelson's departure.
Recall that Hryb joined Microsoft in 2003, at the time focused on helping shape the Xbox Live service. He is considered a key contributor to features such as the achievement system and group chat. In 2012, he became senior director of corporate communications.
For now, Hryb has not revealed what his next career move will be.
