As announced a few days ago, Mafia: The Old Country is one of the games that graced this year's The Game Awards (and even a bit earlier, albeit unofficially). The work of Hangar 13 studio and 2K Games has received a new trailer, and the release window set for the summer of 2025 has been confirmed. We also learned specifics about the plot and gameplay.

Mafia: The Old Country is announced as a "linear narrative-driven game." The developers decided to abandon the open world in favor of a "cinematic experience" set in the early 20th century.

  1. The title will tell a completely new story, presenting the roots of the Sicilian mafia. During the game, we will play the role of a character named Enzo, who grew up working in a sulfur mine. In search of a better life, the protagonist swears allegiance to the criminal family of Don Torissi.
  2. During the gameplay, we will have to engage in open combat, as well as sneak behind the enemies and eliminate them by surprise. Among other things, a dagger and a Lupara shotgun are to be made available to us.

We first heard about Mafia: The Old Country in August 2024, during gamescom. We then learned that the fourth installment of this best-selling series would be a prequel that would take us to Sicily in the early 20th century. Moreover, according to official information, the game will not feature Italian dubbing; however, we can count on the presence of characters speaking in Sicilian.
