Mafia 1 Remake vs. Original
We prepared a comparison of the first screenshots from the Mafia remake with scenes from the original. As it turns out, Hangar 13 not only refreshes the graphics, but also prepares some changes in the way the action is directed.
The official announcement of a full-fledged remake of the first part of Mafia was accompanied by a handful of screenshots from this upcoming work of Hangar 13. Based on them we prepared a comparison of four scenes, which enables us to see how much the visuals will change (of course to the plus) compared to the original. Moreover, we can already see that in case of some missions (at least one), the authors will be tempted to introduce some changes in the way the action is directed.
Mafia 1 and Mafia 1 Remake - comparison
The first picture comes from the second segment of the Bon appetit mission, where Tommy and Sallieri arrive at Pepe's restaurant, where they are attacked. As you can see, the surroundings will become much more detailed, and the shooout itself will be a little less "intimate".
Here we can see a scene from the task entitled Just For Relaxation. It seems that the authors will let us sit at the helm of the same truck that we drove in the original, but its loading this time will not take place in the warehouse, but in the port. It is also worth noting the change of the time of day; in the original, the whole thing was going on during the so-called "golden hour", when the sun setting, and in the remake - after dark.
A spectacular chase in Creme De La Creme, in which Tommy and Sam chase Morello fleeing in Silver Fletcher. In addition to the much more detailed car models, attention is drawn to the much more detailed building facades and much more traffic.
The time has come to take a look at Vincenzo's workshop at the back of Salieri's bar, where we stock up on weapons before going on a mission. As the main character visits this place quite often, the developers had to make it not only as atmospheric as possible, but also rich in details; you can almost smell the stench of a cigarette coming out of the ashtray lying on the desk.
Finally, we have a look at the beginning of Omerta, mission where Tommy has to find the traitor Frank and get Mafia's accounting books.
