Machinarium Devs Announced New Game
The Czech studio Amanita Design, known for Machinarium, Botanicula and Chuchel, presented its next project. It is Happy Game, an adventure game with elements of horror, which will appear in the first half of 2021.
Not even six months have passed since the launch of Amanita Design's latest game, titled Creaks, and the development team, known primarily for works such as Machinarium and Botanicula, has announced its next project. The new project is called Happy Game and it's a two-dimensional adventure horror game that will be released next spring on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch console.
Happy Game's visuals adopt the graphic style characteristic for the developers, using hand-painted backgrounds and animated characters. This time, however, the developers went even further towards surrealism, combining extremely colorful and joyful elements, pulled straight from the illustrated children's fairy tales, with disturbing and violent visions.
They are perfectly harmonious with the theme of the title, since its main character, a little boy, has been trapped in a nightmare from which he will try to wake up at all costs. The creators announced that a number of puzzles of varying degrees of complexity will be waiting for players. The fun will be accompanied by atmospheric music of the Czech freakfolk band DVA.
