Lovecraft Tales to combine adventure game with open world survival – check out the demo
Lovecraft Tales is a newly announced adventure game with elements of open-world survival set in a universe inspired by the horror stories of H.P. Lovecraft. You can check out the game's demo.
An interesting project emerged from the depths of the Internet. Polish developer CVLT has announced Lovecraft Tales, a dark-themed open world PC adventure game based on H. P. Lovecraft’s novels. The game will combine features of a classic point-and-click adventure game, such as logic puzzles, item combination, and UI, as well as RPG/action elements: open world, day and night cycle, and even survival, as your character will be prone to hunger, fatigue, fear, and madness. Note that Lovecraft Tales will offer non-linear gameplay: NPCs will react differently to your decisions and the protagonist may even die permanently.
As for the artwork, Lovecraft Tales will feature hand-drawn 2D environments inspired by 19th century art, i.e. the works by the German painter Caspar David Friedrich. The player will visit lonesome hills of Vermont filled with old shacks, dark forests, and deep caverns. Traveling across the world will take days, during which the hero will have to eat, drink, and find shelter for the night.
If you are a fan of gloomy adventure games, Lovecraft Tales seems like a nice offer. But you don’t have to take anybody’s word for that – there is a free demo available on the game’s official website. And if you like what you see, you can contribute financially via PayPal or wait for the crowdfunding campaign, which is coming soon.
