Lost Ark Players Spam in Chat to Deal More Damage
One of the Lost Ark players has discovered an unusual way to increase inflicted damage. In order to make attacks more effective you need to... spam in the chat.
The loud western launch of Lost Ark is behind us and although it wasn't without some problems, the Asian MMO doesn't seem to be slowing down after kicking off on February 11. A few days after the launch, the game's forums are full of discussions about the game's many interesting mechanics, and players are exchanging insights.
Of particular note is the discovery of a player, who noticed that one of the ways to increase your damage is... spamming in the chat.
Press "!!!!" to win
How does regularly repeating the same message in the chat help? All thanks to the item called Sight Focus Engraving. The gear of this class provides bonuses when you reach character level 50 in the game.
- Depending on the number of Nodes (upgrades gained with progress), damage can increase by 8%, 16% or 28% for 6 seconds.
- The damage increase is enabled by writing four exclamation marks in the chat. The cooldown of the effect is 30 seconds.
- Admittedly, the "boost" does not apply to basic attacks, and in the case of the Awakening skill it is only 50%, but it is undoubtedly worthwhile if all it takes is writing "!!!!" in chat.
Players get ideas
Another fun fact is that the four exclamation points can be preceded by any message.
As Reddit user Tlim, who shared this discovery, wrote:
"It can be any sentence - such as "Believe!!!!", "KAMEHAMEHAAAAA!!!!", "I have the power of god and anime on my side!!!!". Anything that comes to mind that can bury the people in the chat room under layers of cringe.
- Since the exclamation point mechanic works with any sentence, players on the forums began to outdo each other in coming up with more and more hilarious texts. Thus, there was a proposal to spam with the informative phrase: "Macro Side Focus in chat for increased damage!!!!".
- One player went further and announced that his "catchphrase" would be "Never gonna give you up!!!!". Now that's one way to rickroll...
The mechanic of exclamation points, as funny as it may be, can present a few problems. After all, we don't want shouting into the ether to be the only sentences visible in the chat.
