Lost Ark F2P Launches Today; Devs Prepared for Flood of Players
Everyone interested will be able to join the fun in Lost Ark today. The developers prepared the game by launching additional servers and introducing restrictions.
- Today Lost Ark will be joined by everyone who wants to.
- The developers have prepared for the influx of players by introducing appropriate restrictions to the game.
- Founder's Pack owners are encouraged to move to less crowded servers.
Starting today Lost Ark will be available for everyone to play. The game will launch in F2P model and not only owners of the so-called Founder's Packs will be able to run it.
This is good news for all MMO fans who have been waiting for the game's release for a long time. This, however, may cause concern to the creators themselves due to the huge interest of players.
Lost Ark secured against the flood of players
Lost Ark will actually be available in a few days. On February 8 the title was made available to owners of Founder's Packs. It turned out that there were more people than anyone could expect.
The game became a huge hit on Steam, and at the hottest moment of the release day was launched by 532,000 people. Of course, this translated into technical problems, which fortunately were quickly dealt with by the developers.
Such high popularity, however, suggested that on the day of the official release these numbers could be even higher. So the creators decided to prepare for the influx of players and introduced appropriate security measures:
- On the servers with extremely long queues limits have been imposed, limiting the possibility of creating new characters by subsequent players.
- Developers will also open two new servers: EU Central - Beatrice and NA East - Elzowin.
- Other servers will be launched over time, and the developers are to constantly monitor the demand for them.
Bonuses for Founder's Pack owners
The developers have also decided to encourage Founder's Pack holders to explore less crowded servers, which would help relieve them. Until now, such people were discouraged by the fact that on another server they could not use the contents of the purchased packs.
Now this is no longer a problem, as the developers have announcedthat Founder's Pack owners will receive another Founder's Pack to use on another server (and only on this server, no exchange is allowed).
It looks like the developers of Lost Ark are really trying to limit the problems on the game's release day to a minimum. Whether this will be successful, we'll find out only in some time. At the moment the situation is calm, because the title can only be pre-loaded. The servers will open at 9 am PT.
