Lost Ark Devs Slowly Bleed Bots as War Continues

The developers of Lost Ark have announced a number of recent changes to Lost Ark to combat bots.

Lost Ark turned out to be one of this year's biggest hits. However, the game has a big problem with bots. Amazon Games and Smilegate have informed about their recent moves made to improve the situation in this regard.

  1. Several million accounts related to bots, hacking or gold sales have been banned.
  2. The devs blocked access to the regional in-game chat for low-level accounts to make it harder for gold sellers to spam there.
  3. Greatly improved automatic chat moderation systems to better detect words and phrases related to gold selling.
  4. Changed the reward structure for events and quests to make it more difficult to use them for gold farming.
  5. Easy Anti-Cheat system has been improved so that it detects bots more effectively. At the same time, the developers have also implemented their own solutions to make it easier to detect unwanted behavior.
  6. Improvements have been made to the systems by which players can report bot accounts.
  7. The team blocked IP addresses from countries where Lost Ark is not officially distributed, and from which many bot accounts came at the same time.
  8. Blocked the use of VPN solutions in order to make it more difficult to bypass bans on IP addresses.

The developers boast that each of these moves have improved the situation, but they also admit that the battle against bots is still ongoing. The devs are working together with Easy Anti-Cheat on new fixes, as well as further developing their own system for detecting unwanted behavior.

Recall that the western version of Lost Ark debuted in February this year. The game turned out to be a gigantic success. The game's activity record amounts to 1.325 million concurrent users, which is the second highest result in the history of Steam.
