Lost Ark Devs Ban Over a Million Bot Accounts
Lost Ark developers have finally started to seriously tackle the game's bots issue. In the first phase one million such accounts will be banned.
Amazon Games and Smilegate announced mass bans for bot accounts in the popular MMORPG Lost Ark.
Lost Ark - mass bans for bots
- Over a million accounts will be banned in total during the action.
- The move comes as the devs have finally developed tools to identify bot accounts.
- The creators are confident that these tools are accurate, but such a large scale of bans makes it likely that they will also affect a small group of innocent users.
- Those who are wrongly banned will be able to contact the devs in order to get their accounts back.
Bot bans will help to make the game more enjoyable for real players, although the fact that the game is available in F2P model makes it difficult to effectively fight this problem
In the case of Lost Ark the removal of bots is all the more significant as the game continues to face major difficulties with overcrowded servers. Bots seem to be working. One player reports that the queue on the EU Thirain server has decreased from 8k to 950 waiting. The situation was supposed to have improved also on Kaidan.
Recall that the western version of Lost Ark debuted in February this year. The game turned out to be a gigantic success. The game's current activity record is 1.325 million concurrent users, which is the second highest result in the history of Steam.
