Gollum Gone Gold; Launch on Schedule

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has gone gold. This means that the title's release should not be delayed anymore.

Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon have announced that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, an action adventure game set in the universe of The Lord of the Rings, has gone gold. This means that work on the title has officially been completed and its release date is secure. The game will be released on May 25 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. However, we still do not know when exactly the title will hit the Nintendo Switch console.

At the same time, it was reported, that the possibility of pre-orders will start tomorrow.

In this case, going gold is important, all the more so because The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has suffered quite a few delays. One of them resulted from the rather cold reception of the game after the gameplay presentation. The developers were given some time to make improvements, but a recent press preview showed that the title still raised concerns.

On the one hand, journalists praised the storyline, fidelity to Tolkien's work and moral choices, but on the other hand, the gameplay itself is said to perform significantly worse. The mechanics seem outdated, and the stages are very linear. Details related to the said presentation can be found in the post below.

  1. Press Played LotR: Gollum and is Unimpressed; Release Date and Gameplay

The final shape of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be revealed in May. For the moment, all that remains is for us to arm ourselves with a little more patience.
