Diablo 4 is the newest installment in the popular series of Diablo games, in which the player's task is to kill hordes of enemies and compose the best possible build for their character. The second aspect may be of particular interest to fans of the game right now, as with the arrival of the 4th season there has been a change in the items mechanics. If you want to find out how legacy items currently work, then read our guide, which explains it!
How the Legacy Items Works in Diablo 4?
A new season – Loot Reborn – has arrived in Diablo 4, which, in addition to new content and changes to the game's balance, has mainly focused on character itemization. In the case of previous seasons, itemization only affected the Seasonal Realm, however, it now also includes the Eternal Realm. This is a very crucial change, especially for the builds of your characters.
It mainly relies on the fact that while the items you had from previous seasons still work and you don’t lose them, they are not compatible in any way with the newly introduced systems such as tempering or masterworking. They are called “Legacy Items”. You can also find out more about it in a recent video in which one of the game developers speaks out about the changes.
This change will force players to acquire newer items to be able to upgrade weapon affixes, for example. However, this does not mean that legacy items will become useless. It's just that newer versions of items have the potential to outperform “their predecessors”. Therefore, if you are aiming for the best possible build for your character, so that no opponent is a threat to you, it will be necessary in the long run to acquire the newer gear, which can be upgraded with the help of the systems introduced this season.
