Latest Windows 10 Update Spoils Performance of Some Games
The latest Windows 10 update, named KB4482887, not only introduces a number of improvements but also brings to some nasty new problems. One of them is the performance drop in selected titles.
On March 1, Microsoft released an update to Windows 10, marked KB4482887. As it turns out, apart from introducing a number of improvements, the patch brings some problems. One of them causes the players to experience performance drops and mouse problems in some games, such as Destiny 2.
Microsoft is aware of this problem and ensures that it is already working on a solution. In the meantime it recommends that anyone who has experienced such complications uninstall the latest update, which should restore the old performance.
Additionaly, the KB4482887 update causes "Error 1309" when installing or uninstalling some files with MSI and/or MSP extensions (the company recommends ignoring the message), as well as problems with authentication in Internet Explorer 11. It should be noted that although Microsoft is already working on a long-term solution, it has not shared specific information on the reasons for these complications.
On this occasion, it is worth remembering that in January the giant from Redmond asked players about ideas for improving the Windows system. The list of propositions included automatic disabling of unnecessary processes when launching games, a new version of Windows, created specifically for players, and the ability to quick launch selected titles using a gamepad. In February an early version of the update introducing some facilities for interactive entertainment enthusiasts was released.
