Latest Diablo 4 Update Includes Mysterious Ring Whose Purpose No One Knows
Diablo 4 players are weaving conspiracy theories about what use the new ring might have.
The latest update for Diablo 4 introduced a lot of major changes and even more minor ones. Among them were new items. One of them is a ring, called "Mage Clan Signet". It is ordinary by every definition of the word. However, the community is looking for a hidden meaning in his existence.
The One Ring in Diablo
Almost from the very beginning of the series, one of the biggest mysteries of the Sanctuary is the cow level. This is a world whose discovery requires a lot of patience and hard work. In Diablo 4 you can probably also get there although no one has managed to do so yet.
With the premiere of Vessel of Hatred, three new items related to community quests have been added to the game. They are a ring, a gem, and a staff. Many players therefore assume that the "Mage Clan Signet" is indeed part of the puzzle, although there is no hard evidence for this.
This theory makes some sense, though, since in previous installments the items related to the cow level or the pony world in Diablo 3 had one thing in common. They were incredibly old, their purpose had been "lost in time" and they radiated a mysterious power. The description of the discussed ring is as follows
"Despite its age, the quality of workmanship is clear. The signet's image has been worn down to the point of illegibility, rendering its clan identity lost to time."
Much of the evidence suggests that the signet ring is a piece of the puzzle leading to the cow world, but after searching through the game files it was discovered that the ring is connected to the quest "The Scales of History". However, it is not needed for anything and plays no role in it.
One of the possible explanations is that it originally had some meaning, but at some point, the idea was abandoned, and the creators either didn't feel like it, or forgot to remove it. It is also possible that it will be needed in the future, after further updates.
For now, the only certainty is that no one knows why the "Mage Clan Signet" is in the game. If it is related to the cow level, I suppose that cow hunters will discover it in the coming weeks. In the worst-case scenario, if it turns out that someone simply forgot to remove the item, the community will be left with memories and probably memes.
