Last of Us 2 With Great Sales Despite Controversy
Sony has just boasted of The Last of Us: Part II sales. Just two days after its release the game sold several million copies.
Sony has just announced the sale results of The Last of Us: Part II, the sequel to the acclaimed PlayStation exclusive from 2013. According to the presented data, only two days after the release (i.e. until June 21), the game has sold over 4 million copies (including preorders), thus becoming the fastest selling exclusive PS4 title. This clearly shows that despite many controversies, fans simply wanted to see a sequel to the series.
Vice President of Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann, in a short statement thanked the fans for such an amazing reception of the new installment.
"We are so immensely grateful to the millions of fans around the world that have played The Last of Us Part II and shared their experiences with us over the last week. We set out to tell a new kind of story, one that deals with difficult themes and would challenge you in unexpected ways. Hearing how the experience has resonated with so many of you and witnessing the type of thoughtful discussions it has sparked has been so incredible."
The Last of Us 2 was released on June 19 exclusively on PlayStation 4. The title is universally praised by reviewers who said it was a strong candidate for the game of the year. However, many Internet users do not share their opinion the game, and have intensely review bombed Naughty Dog's latest title. Recently we learned that Druckmann does not yet know what the next installment of the series could look like and that the second installment will not receive any DLCs.
