Large, Open World in New Tomb Raider Sounds Intriguing. Latest Rumors Suggest Lara Croft Will Ride a Motorcycle
The new game in the Tomb Raider series will reportedly offer an open world. We've learned alleged details about the Crystal Dynamics studio's new game.
We know very little about the upcoming Tomb Raider game. Lara Croft adventure fans haven't seen any trailers so far, but they may be interested in new rumors about the title. The reports come from a user known as V Scooper, who is primarily recognized for sharing unofficial movie news.
Large open world in Tomb Raider
According to the insider, the new Tomb Raider will offer a "fully open world" - so we can guess that, unlike the trilogy launched in 2013, we will get a huge map and many side missions. Furthermore, you can explore vast locations using motorcycles or a parachute. The game will also not lack "typical Lara" methods of movement (probably referring to climbing, zip lines, etc.).
These reports would agree with the statements of the devs of the next part of the Tomb Raider series, who claim that it will be the most extensive installment of the entire series.
Plot and mechanics
It's worth mentioning that V Scooper also mentioned a bit about the game's storyline:
A natural disaster strikes northern India revealing ancient emperor Ashoka's ruins and artifacts. Lara strategically races against a Society of Raiders and other rivals for these powerful relics.
Other seekers of artifacts should be inspired by the protagonist's actions, but they might have entirely different intentions. This aspect will supposedly involve an intriguing mechanic centered on enlisting allies to assist Lara in her quests. Furthermore, V Scooper mentions that in the new Tomb Raider, the player can get out of dangerous situations without using violence (non-lethal combat).
Soon to be released?
All of this information should be approached with caution, as it hasn't been officially confirmed. However, V Scooper claims that the game is set to be released within a year, although the release date isn't yet final. Considering these rumors, it is highly likely that Amazon Games (the publisher of the new Tomb Raider) will soon showcase material from the game, for instance, during the approaching Summer Game Fest 2024.
Crystal Dynamics studio is responsible for the latest game starring Lara Croft. The title is being developed on the Unreal Engine 5, and it is known that it will be intended for single-player.
