Kojima Beats Two Guinness World Records
Hideo Kojima has the highest number of followers on Twitter and Instagram among game directors. Thus, he beats two Guinness World Records at the same time, of which he boasted, of course, through social media.
The release of Death Stranding is behind us. The title received mixed (though more often positive) reviews, and the players still find tidbits and references in the game and outdo each other in commenting on Kojima's ideas. The latter, in turn, has a different reason to celebrate. The artist beats two Guinness World Records - he is "the most frequently followed" game director on Twitter and Instagram. Hideo Kojima is used to sharing his thoughts through social media. In terms of numbers, the Japanese gathered about 2.8 million followers on Twitter and just over 888 thousand on Instagram. Of course these results are changing non-stop, so don't be surprised if they're already bigger.
However, we must admit that the rules of awarding the Guinness World Record are quite specific because Hideo Kojima does not necessarily have the largest audience on Twitter. Minecraft's father, Markus "Notch" Persson, has about 3.7 million followers. So we can see that even if we sum up the followers from the English (2.8 million) and Japanese (800 thousand) Kojima accounts, the Japanese would only take second place. That is why we must specify that strictly game directors were taken into account, not creators (in the broad sense of the word).
<Death Stranding had its release on November 8, this year. The title was only released on PlayStation 4, but will also launch on PC next summer, simultaneously on Steam and Epic Games Store. For Hideo Kojima, this is the first game developed after leaving Konami, where he spent over three decades. The main character of the game is Sam Porter Bridges, played by Norman Reedus. The game features several other actors and directors known from big screens, including Guillermo del Toro. The title is powered by Decima engine, developed by specialists from Guerrilla Games.
