Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 devs revealed what their game has in common with another Czech hit - ETS 2
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a huge success, but the game's developers say KCD has yet to match the success of Euro Truck Simulator 2.

The head of Warhorse Studios pointed out what connects Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 with another Czech hit, which isn't set in medieval times at all.
Daniel Vavra remains very active on social media, of course in the context of the release of his team's latest game. For instance, Czech boasted about the popularity of KCD 2 on Steam, which surpassed, among others, the record of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The current "peak" of the title is over 256 thousand players in the game.
However, Vavra is not the only developer of Kingdom Come who speaks out after the launch of the sequel. It doesn't always involve slandering the critics of the second installment, but other employees at Warhorse studio also don't hold back on making unusual statements. Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, the global manager for PR, in an interview with GamesRadar, compared Kingdom Come 2: Deliverance to Euro Truck Simulator by the SCS Software studio, highlighting the vastness of the Czech truck simulator series.
SCS Software and its "Silicon Valley"
As Ondrej Bittner, the senior gameplay designer, added, KCD 2 attracted "unusual" audiences: people who usually don't have contact with video games. The same was supposed to be achieved by SCS Software because many Truck Simulator fans don't play anything else. Apparently, the same applies to the players of the second Kingdom Come, who - according to the developer - have no problem with the "game mechanics" (including the controversial game save system).
What might be surprising, though, is that Stolz-Zwilling believes Warhorse is far from reaching the success that the devs of the Truck Simulator series have achieved.
It may be surprising as the peak of Euro Truck Simulator 2 on Steam doesn't even come close to half of what KCD 2 managed to get. Let's also remember that Henry's adventures are available on consoles, where it is futile to look for ETS 2 and ATS.
Despite this, Czech points to a gigantic and loyal community centered around SCS Software studio games, which over the years has managed to build a real "Silicon Valley" for its employees. Warhorse still has a long way to go to achieve such accomplishments, at least that's what Stolz-Zwilling believes. The developer hopes that the success of KCD 2 will not only consolidate the position of Warhorse Studios but will also be an incentive for other teams in the "flourishing" Czech game market.
[SCS Software has] a ginormous, huge audience and extremely dedicated fans. And they have the nicest offices here from all the game studios. They've built up their own Silicon Valley kind of thing. We're not there yet. They have way more developers than we do. The Czech gaming industry is flourishing, and KCD maybe helps to spread some love and whatnot, and maybe motivate some new studios to come up.
