Keanu Reeves Makes a Highlander-like Comic Book Series
It turns out Keanu Reeves is a man of many talents and interests. After appearing in Cyberpunk 2077, the actor decided to make some comic books. His work is called BRZRKR and tells the story of an immortal warrior.
I don't think we need to introduce Keanu Reeves. He's an actor known for movies like The Matrix and John Wick. He also left his mark in the gaming industry as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077. As we learned from the website of publisher BOOM!Studios, his latest project is a comic book called BRZRKR, which tells the story of an immortal warrior who wants to know the truth about himself.
The comic is made under the wings of BOOM! Studios, the title will appear once a month, starting in October 2020, and will have 12 issues. Apart from the famous actor, experienced artists are working on it. Matt Kindt (Folklords) is the co-creator of the story layer, Alessandro Vitti (known for his many superhero series from Marvel) and Bill Crabtree (Invincible, The Sixth Gun) are responsible for the visuals, while the look of the text rests on the shoulders of Clem Robins (Hellboy).
BRZRKR realizes Keanu Reeves' idea. The actor dreamt of creating the character of an immortal warrior, who is the son of the god of war and has been walking our planet for 80,000 years. The protagonist, by the way deceptively similar to a certain actor, is known as the Berserker and despite the fact that he cannot die, he still has to hide and fake his death. This story element brings to mind the Highlander series. To find out the truth about himself, the protagonist allies with the US government. Of course, both sides have their own hidden motives.
USA Today interviewed the comic book makers. The interview reveals that it will be a very brutal and cinematic title. Alessandro Vitti, in search of inspiration, has rewatched all John Wick movies, which may give us some idea of what kind of content we can expect.
Keanu Reeves reveals in an interview that he would be happy to see a movieadaptation of his work. He also added that he wouldn't mind playing the main character.
Fans of comic books rubbing their hands with glee thinking about the title must be informed that for the time being physical copies will be sold only in selected stores in the USA. The publisher, however, announces that it will also be possible to order them in its online store. Digital copies will be available on Google Play, iBooks, comiXology and Madefire.
