James Earl Jones First Met Carrie Fisher Not on the Set of Star Wars, but The Big Bang Theory. The Actors Appeared in a Hilarious Scene
Darth Vader and Princess Leia share scenes in Star Wars, however, James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher did not meet until many years later on the set of The Big Bang Theory.
On Sept. 9, 2024, the world was saddened by the death of James Earl Jones, an unforgettable actor whose voice Star Wars fans will always identify with Darth Vader. The actor made the character even more terrifying with his acting, however, he was also able to show that he was not just a villain from a galaxy far, far away.
Due to the fact that James Earl Jones was exclusively the voice of Darth Vader, he didn't appear on the sets of the Star Wars series, meaning that he didn't have the opportunity to meet other actors there. For a long time, he also didn’t have a chance to meet some of them on other occasions, such as the promotion of the films – and even such notable people as Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia, Darth Vader's daughter.
Their meeting came many years later, in 2014, when the two appeared in an episode of The Big Bang Theory, sharing a hilarious scene in which Jones, along with Sheldon, pay Fisher an unannounced visit at her home. But they merely ring her doorbell and flee, and the furious actress leaves the house and threatens Jones, who, it turns out, not for the first time has made such a prank.
This small appearance in the popular sitcom allowed them to see each other for the first time and led to an affectionate greeting, during which Carrie Fisher, referring to Star Wars, jokingly called James Earl Jones “dad.”
Their scene together in The Big Bang Theory took place in the 14th episode of season 7, titled The Convention Conundrum.
