„It’s Kind Of A Scary Thing To Show Your Kid”. Natalie Portman Doesn't Want Her Children To Watch Her Star Wars Movies
Natalie Portman doesn't want her children to watch her Star Wars movies for the same reason that fans are heartbroken.
Natalie Portman has played numerous roles over her long career, some of which are unforgettable. But for Star Wars fans, she will forever remain Padme Amidala, whom she played in the prequel trilogy. This heroine, as we know, met a tragic fate at the end that broke the hearts of her fans. And, as it turns out, this is also the reason why the actress doesn't want her children to see Star Wars movies starring her.
As she said during a visit to Jimmy Kimmel's show (via Yahoo! News), when joining the Star Wars cast she was excited at the thought of one day being able to show it to her children, but later realized that this wasn’t an option due to Padme's tragic end.
It’s kind of a shame. You know, when I made it, I was like, “This is going to be the coolest thing. One day when I have kids, I can show them.” And boys, of course, are obsessed with it and know all about it before they’ve seen it. [But] I realized, I die in the movies. I feel like it’s kind of a scary thing to show your kid.
The reason seems understandable, no mother wants her children to watch her die, even if it's just a role in a movie. Fans probably understand this too, since many of them were devastated after Padme Amidala's death.
Portman, on the occasion of another interview, this time for Fatherly, added another reason why her children haven’t seen the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Her son, however, has had the opportunity to see the latest Star Wars installments.
I think it’s so weird for them to think of me as anything other than their mom. They’ve seen the recent ‘Star Wars’ movies that I am not in – my son has, my daughter, is too young.
As a reminder, Natalie Portman has starred in three Star Wars films: Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
