Is Chris Avellone to make another Fallout game?
What does it mean when someone like Chris Avellone says to Fallout Boy: “I missed you so much”? According to Fallout fans, the co-designer of Fallout 2 and Fallout: New Vegas must be working on another Fallout game.
Chris Avellone has made quite a stir among Fallout fans with his recent Facebook activity. The legendary RPG designer has changed his profile photo to a picture of the Fallout Boy being hugged by a stick guy saying: “I’ve missed you so much”. Perhaps he was just being reminiscent of the 20th anniversary of the franchise, celebrated this year, but it can also suggest that Avellone is about to make another Fallout game or at least some other Fallout-related project.
Apart from a host of other great classic RPGs (including Baldur’s Gate, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Pillars of Eternity as well as the recently released Divinity: Original Sin II) that he collaborated on, Chris Avellone greatly contributed to the final shape of both Fallout 2 and Fallout: New Vegas, which are often considered to be the two best Fallout games out there. He also wrote the Fallout Bible and the script for the All Roads comic book.
Recently we’ve also heard that Obsidian Entertainment (who gave us Fallout: New Vegas) would gladly make another game set in that universe, if given the chance. Although Chris Avellone parted ways with Obsidian back in 2015, it is not unlikely that he would return to the studio in order to work on another Fallout game. That would be a dream come true to all Fallout fans.
