iPhone 12 May Suffer From Weak Battery
According to rumors based on certification documents for new batteries registered by Apple, iPhone 12 smartphones may have less capacious cells than their predecessors.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- MySmartPrice has learned about the capacity of three new Apple batteries that may be used in iPhone 12;
- Their specs are worse than the models used in the previous generation of smartphones.
MySmartPrice has reached certification documents of three new batteries from Apple, which can be dedicated to smartphones from the iPhone 12 series. We are talking about cells numbered A2471, A2431 and A2466, which appeared in databases of such entities as Safety Korea, 3C (China) or UL Demko (Denmark). Interestingly, the batteries have lower capacity than the models used in iPhone 11.
Are these the batteries of new iPhones?
The cells are as follows. MySmartPrice editors have associated them with iPhone 12 models in which they can be used (parentheses).
- A2471 - 2227 mAh (likely to be used on iPhone 12 with 5.4" screen);
- A2431 - 2775 mAh (it may be used in iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro - both are to be equipped with 6.1" panel);
- A2466 - 3687 mAh (iPhone 12 Pro Max with 6.7" screen).
Such battery specs may worry fans of the company, especially as it cannot be ruled out that iPhone 12 will have higher power consumption than its predecessors (due to more powerful components). Unless the company doubles down on optimization, at least one aspect of these devices may turn out to be slightly disappointing.
It should be noted that for the time being the above information should be treated as rumor - the existence of batteries is a fact, but the devices in which they will be used are, for the time being, speculations, as there is no such data in the documentation (although it is difficult to consider the editors' theories as unfounded).
