Intel Xe HPG GPU May Match RTX 3070
The Intel XE HPG has may compete with the GeForce RTX 3070, and the card is said to be 20 times faster than the Iris Pro 5200, indicating high performance, able to match Nvidia's card.
There is not much information available about the new GPU from Intel at this point, but they are gradually being unveiled. We are talking about Intel Xe HPG, which may be a competitor to Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3070.
Recently, a photo was published on Twitter, showing Intel employees along with Raja Koduri - Intel's chief GPU architect, who are looking at a monitor. There would be nothing unusual in this, if not for the fact that it displayed a test of the well-known benchmark app, 3DMark. Although Koduri did not indicate which specific model was tested there, it is known that Intel conducts comparative tests of Xe HPG in 3DMark. Therefore, there is a good chance that the results apply to the aforementioned model.
By the way, Koduri reminded that 9 years ago part of the current team worked on Crystal Well - a processor with built-in 128 MB eDRAM. Its integrated GPU was the Iris Pro 5200. The result of benchmarks in the 3DMark database showed about 1450 points in Fire Strike mode. Considering the assurances that the new card is supposed to be 20 times faster than the Iris Pro 5200, this puts its performance close to the RTX 3070, which could be impressive.
The Intel Xe HPG does not have a set release date yet, but there is a lot of talk that it will debut this year. According to unofficial reports, it is expected to get 6 different variants. The new chip from Intel could be something extremely desirable if it actually offers RTX 3070-like performance, even more so if Intel provides a good supply.
