In anticipation of Shadow of the Erdtree, players returned to the base game and found that there were still many secrets left in it.

Discovering the numerous mysteries and surprises in FromSoftware games often demands a great deal of creativity. To this day, I don't know how the first player figured out how to get to Archdragon Peak in Dark Souls 3. Besides them, there are hidden secrets like the guiding squirrel from Elden Ring, or rather its spirit, that will assist you in avoiding a fight in one of the locations if you follow it.

Finally, something that doesn't want our death

Animals in computer games are usually programmed according to a very simple division. Ones that can bite off our heads and ones that cannot. Their behavior depends on the group they are in. Bears, wolves, boars are in the first group and usually attack the player as soon as they see him. Farm animals, small predators like foxes, or "cute" rabbits and squirrels will run away as fast as they can.

Departing from the pattern is rarely seen. For a while, it seemed that this solution was used in Skyrim. Players have developed a theory according to which following the fox will lead our character to the treasure. However, it turned out that this wasn't a deliberate action, and the foxes pause at spots with chests or loot, which are more abundant in Skyrim than those without them, as they are drawn to locations with a more intricate layout. Of course, this is a big simplification.

This division is also used in Elden Ring. However, it turned out that there's an exception to the rule. It's the spirit of a squirrel, which you will find in the Zamor Ruins in the Mountaintops of the Giants. In theory, there are many such locations throughout the Lands Between. Zamor Ruins, however, has exceptional guards. The Zamor Knights are very challenging opponents due to their speed, range, and magical abilities.

This leads to a rather challenging access to the two treasures located there. The spell "Zamor Ice Strom" and Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearing 3 unlock new goods at the Twin Maiden Husks.

The aforementioned spirit of the squirrel may help you in finding the latter. At first glance, the squirrel runs away like the other animals. However, if we follow it, we will find that it guides us along a path that helps us avoid any confrontation and allows us to reach the underground chamber with the chest.

This is the sole known instance of its kind, although players are already speculating about the possibility of there being more. I assume that the animals living in the shadow of the Erdtree endure a lot of trauma from players chasing them in hopes of finding treasures.
