“I’ll Never Want to Do a Picture Like That Again”. Tom Cruise Has Regretted Playing in This Fantasy Flop for Almost 40 Years
Tom Cruise has a movie in his filmography that he regrets. He has sworn never to appear in a similar production again.
Tom Cruise is an action movie star. The actor has become famous for performing dangerous stunts, raising the bar higher with each successive film. There are few people who could accomplish the same thing as Cruise in this field. And while his career can be considered successful, being one of the leading faces of Hollywood, even he has films to his credit in which he regrets his participation.
And one of the infamous places in this group is occupied by the 1985 film Legend. The fantasy spectacle, in which the forces of darkness were preparing to kill all the unicorns and were to be stopped by a boy from the forest, is not one of Cruise's favorites. He is not fond of it, so much so that he regrets his participation in the film and has vowed never to appear in a similar production again.
The actor declared this during an interview with Rolling Stone.
I’ll never want to do a picture like that again.
Reviews of Legend were not favorable. Although the production design in this Ridley Scott film was appreciated, it was concluded that even a beautiful world could not save the story, which, in short, did not delight the critics.
But Cruise did not regret everything associated with the production. Although the movie itself turned out to be a flop, the actor remembers the experience on the set in a good way, as he shared during an interview with Interview Magazine.
The sets were huge. Sometimes we would be working on a scene that might last 30 seconds in the film, but it took a week to shoot it. It’s stunning and gorgeous and poetic and most of the time I would be looking at a piece of black tape and having to imagine all of it. It was exciting.
Despite his satisfaction with the sets, it looks like the actor is not going to repeat his Legends adventure anyway.
