„I Think People Are Tired of Me Being Such a Let Down”. It Was Nearly Impossible for Jim Parsons to Film This Memorable Scene from The Big Bang Theory
Jim Parsons confessed which scene from TBBT gave him the most trouble. Fans may be disappointed because the actor didn't handle the element they went crazy about.
While one gets the impression that Jim Parsons naturally found his way into the role of Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, it turns out that playing him did not always come easily to the actor. There were times when he had trouble playing certain scenes, including one that can be considered iconic due to the introduction of a memorable element for fans.
The 8th episode from season 2 of The Big Bang Theory, The Lizard-Spock Expansion, was particularly difficult for Parsons due to his inability to find his way around the rules of the expanded version of the Rock Paper Scissors game – Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock. Parsons needed several takes before he was finally able to present the rules of the game flawlessly, as can be seen in the bloopers from the TBBT set.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor confessed that he can't grasp the rules of the game, which makes him not fond of it, unlike fans who go crazy about it.
I’m not tired at all! Mainly because I can’t do it. I think people are tired of me being such a let down when they want to hear about it, or God forbid play it. Honestly that was one of the hardest things I’v ever had to memorize. It somehow doesn’t compute in my brain. I hate to say that must mean that it doesn’t mean anything to me, but I’m afraid that it really doesn’t mean very much to me.
The actor may not be fond of the game, the rules of which can indeed mess with your head, but fans of The Big Bang Theory have come to love it. It is the perfect reference to the pop culture referenced on TBBT. And Parsons is not the first sitcom star to confess that an element of the production did not appeal to him.
