Perhaps not all of you are familiar with the game Songs of Syx. This inconspicuous city builder, a mix of RimWorld, Factorio, and Cities Skylines, was released in early access in 2020. The game developed by the one-person studio Gamatron AB has recently made a lot of noise, thanks to the promotion available on the Steam and GOG platforms.

The lower price allowed many players to try out the title. There was no lack of willing players, as it turns out. The game's dev announced in a post on Valve's platform that the promotion allowed him to achieve 6 months of revenue in just 24 hours.

As you know there was [still is] a 20% sale, and a huge video by Seeth - the youtuber. SoS made it to the top 20 worldwide on Steam, and #4 on another store who's name shall not be mentioned. This increased sales indeed. I basically made 6 months normal revenue in 24h -- said the developer.

Furthermore, he mentioned that Songs of Syx has received the V66 update. For now, the update is available in beta. According to the developer, the beta version is in good condition, but there may still be errors that will be continuously fixed.

The update precedes the premiere of version 1.0 and introduces many changes and new features to Songs of Syx. Among them were:

  1. tutorial converted into a campaign;
  2. new background in the menu;
  3. improved visibility of roads and new types of them;
  4. system improvements for battles;
  5. new technologies (20);
  6. new sountracks;
  7. changes in scripts.

You can find out more about the update here. I also encourage you to watch the extensive gameplay of Songs of Syx.
