Hunter x Hunter Chapter 401. Iconic Manga Returns After Long Hiatus
After 90 weeks the Hunter x Hunter manga returns with chapter 401. Shueisha also announced a new schedule for the manga, giving its creator more freedom in terms of releasing his own work.
Hunter x Hunter is one of the most iconic manga series ever created. Nearly every manga or anime fan with any exposure to Japanese culture is familiar with it. Unfortunately, due to the poor health of its author, Yoshihiro Togashi, the series often goes on extended hiatuses, sometimes lasting years.

Hunter x Hunter hiatus
Chapter 400 of Hunter x Hunter was released in December 2022, and now, almost 90 weeks later, we finally have Chapter 401. Long hiatuses aren’t something that surprises HxH fans, or manga fans in general. In fact, having a publisher like Shueisha, which doesn’t pressure its writers, is a good thing. This allows creators to focus on their work at their own pace—something that isn’t always the norm in countries like Japan.
That being said, there are many anime watchers and manga readers eagerly waiting to see how Gon's adventures will unfold. It's also worth mentioning that a very well-known character makes a return in Chapter 401, but I won’t spoil who it is—this is a spoiler-free zone!
Hunter x Hunter new manga schedule
Fans of the manga also received an update regarding Hunter x Hunter's new release schedule. To support Yoshihiro Togashi’s health, Shueisha has decided to allow him to release the manga on a non-weekly basis. This means new chapters will come out at Togashi’s own pace, rather than every week. Shueisha also released a statement (via ComicBook) that says:
As for the publication of the manga, Chapter 401, and after, we have discussed with Togashi about his health condition, and as a result, we have decided to publish Hunter x Hunter in a format other than weekly serialization. Togashi-Sensei will continue to write the following chapters, and the editorial department will continue to support him until the completion of the manga.
