Humankind and Naraka Go Big on Steam, but Only One of Them Gains Popularity
Humankind was the biggest bestseller of last week on Steam. However, the true phenomenon is Naraka: Bladepoint, which is growing in popularity day by day.
- Humankind recorded a very good debut, but the developers have reason to be concerned about the game's future;
- Naraka: Bladepoint is growing in popularity;
- Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 is holding its own.
As every Monday, the list of Steam's biggest (by revenue) bestsellers of the previous week was released. Once again, the list brought a lot of news. The sales leader turned out to be Humankind, a turn-based strategy game from Amplitude, whose two different releases took first and third place on the list.
Over the weekend, however, the game failed to set a new activity record, which may be a cause for concern for the devs. At the hottest point of Sunday Humankind was played by 43,000 people simultaneously on Steam, which is 12,000 less than the best result on the day of release.
The waning enthusiasm of players can also be seen in the ratings. The day after the launch 76% of the user reviews on Steam were positive. Today, it is only 71%. The game is criticized mainly for technical issues and problems with the balance of gameplay (e.g. shortage of oil on the maps, limiting the development options), so we hope that it will receive appropriate patches soon.
The second biggest bestseller of last week on Steame was Naraka: Bladepoint. Another edition of this network action battle royale game also took the tenth position. In the previous list, the game was the leader of the list, but the developers have no reasons to complain, because their work is still selling well.
In addition to this, the popularity of Naraka: Bladepoint is constantly growing. Last week, each consecutive day brought a new record of activity. Yesterday, at the hottest moment of the day, 116,540 users played the game on Steam, which is 30 thousand more than the best result of the first weekend after launch.
Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 continues to sell very well, coming in at number six on the list. Attractive deals also ensured high positions for Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition and Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition. In addition, the adventure game Twelve Minutes records a successful debut.
