The latest update to No Man’s Sky introduced Corrupted Worlds, and with them, a range of new features. One of them is a device called Echo Locator, which can be obtained from Corrupted Sentinels. The gadget requires specific conditions to operate, which makes some players believe that it is bugged. In this guide, you will learn how to use Echo Locator in NMS and how to fix the Locational Interference problem.
How to use Echo Locator in No Man’s Sky
The Echo Locator is a random drop from Corrupted Sentinels. Roam around Corrupted Planets until you obtain one.
You do not have to be on the surface of the planet to use the device. It’s enough to enter the planet’s atmosphere on your ship and click “Resonate” to start looking for Sentinel technology.
Locational Interference – Causes and Fix
Many players who attempt to use the Echo Locator encounter a message saying “Cannot Use Chart Locational Interference”. To fix this issue, it is important to understand what the device actually does. Echo Locator is meant to lead you to the nearest Abadoned Encampment, where you may obtain a Sentinel Interceptor ship. If it does not work, it’s possible there are none of those on the planet you are currently on. The device is intended to be used on a Corrupted World.
What is more, it appears the Echo Locator may not work unless you use it on a freshly discovered Corrupted Planet. The reason is probably very simple - abandoned encampments did not generate on the explored worlds, it has to be a fresh one. To find new Corrupted Planets, look for stars with “Dissonant” in the Stellar Class Summary.
