How to Turn on FPS Counter in The Finals When Steam Overlay Doesn’t Work
If you have problems with FPS counter in The Finals, you are in a good place. It can be difficult to turn it on when the Steam Overlay does not work.
The Finals launched the open beta. It is a great chance to try this interesting title. It attracted many players, especially thanks to its environmental destruction. However, it can cost some FPS. If you want to use Steam FPS counter in the game, you may be surprised that Steam Overlay does not work. Luckily, it is not your only option.
Steam Overlay does not work in The Finals
At the moment of writing this article, it seems that the Steam Overlay does not work in The Finals. It means that the game lacks some functionalities like FPS Counter. Of course, it may be added once the title will be launched in a complete version, we have to wait.
How to enable FPS Counter in The Finals
Luckily, Steam is not the only app on your PC, which has access to FPS Counter. There is also a Game Bar (if you use Windows OS).
- Press Windows button + G in the game.
- Find Widget Menu and Pick Performance.
- If you use this tool for the first time, you will have to pick FPS tab and Request access.
- Follow the steps which will show up.
- Restart your PC.
Now you can use FPS counter in the game thanks to Game Bar. It can be adjusted to your preferences in the settings. Remember to pin it, or else it will disappear once you close the Game Bar app.
Game Bar problem fix
If the above method does not work, you will have to add yourself to the group manually. If you are using the administrator account, try the below Fix:
- Press Windows button and write cmd.
- Open the program as administrator.
- In the case of English systems, run command: net localgroup "Performance Log Users" username /add
- Restart your PC. Everything should work.
Note:
- If your PC is “English”, Performance Log User will work for you, if not, the group will be named in a different way. For example, in Polish it is called Uzytkownicy dzienników wydajnosci (with Polish characters), and in Spanish Usuarios del registro de rendimiento.
- If you want to check the proper local group, run net localgroup command. It will show you the groups on your PC, pick an equivalent of Performance Log Users in your language.
- Username is also an individual case. If you don’t know it, run command net users. The name will show up.
- Exemplary command in Polish if the user is called Damian: net localgroup "Uzytkownicy dzienników wydajnosci" Damian /add
