If you want to master Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, prepare of hours of training and a lot of frustration. While most basic attacks are player friendly. Some of the more tricky and flashy moves can be painful to learn. We have written about sonic sway and dodge yesterday. Today, let’s talk about deflecting beams.

How to Deflect Beams in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

So, you want to deflect beams? It is an extremely difficult task. I will not even pretend that I have mastered it. However, as in the case of all special moves, it requires a lot of skill and timing. You can teleport from the way of the projectile using a well-timed guard button input. However, it will not reflect the beam. To do that, you have to press the combination of the buttons presented below. And believe me, it is more difficult than avoiding the beam with guarding.

  1. Standard – B + Y (Xbox Controller) / Circle + Triangle (PS5 DualSense),
  2. Classic – Sadly, at this point I don’t know yet. I have tried various combinations but couldn’t trigger deflection.
  3. Keyboard – Q + E (keyboard).

If you want to train this skill, it is a good idea to fight a training battle and pick “Defense Strategy Blast”.

How to Deflect and Reflect KI blasts in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

While not as spectacular as beams, Ki blasts can be dangerous, too. It is good to deflect them, or even better, reflect. How to do that? In this case, timing is key. If you want to deflect projectiles, just press the guard button after they are shot (you can simply hold it). On the other hand, to deflect them, you need to press the button just before the energy hits you. A difficult task. You can fight training matches with Piccolo to master it. They are called “Ki Blast Reflection” and “Ki Blast Deflection”.

  1. Classic – B (Xbox) / Circle (PS5 DualSense),
  2. Standard – RB (Xbox) / R1 (PS5 DualSense),
  3. Keyboard – E.

If you want to learn more about the game, we have prepared other guides. For example, read how to switch characters and transform, beat Ape Vegeta or unlock all characters (including Black Goku).
