How Strong Is Yuta Okkotsu in Satoru Gojo's Body After Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 261?
The 261st chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen has changed a lot in the power balance of the characters in this world. How does this apply to Yuta Okkotsu? What has changed in his case? We explain it.
Warning! Below are spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261 surprised fans with a plot twist. When the previous chapter of the manga showed a frame with a character resembling Satoru Gojo, fans thought their favorite had returned from the afterlife. And in a way it happened, though definitely not as fans of the character would have expected, as we only get to see his body, which is now controlled by Yuta Okkotsu (you can read more about that here). Gojo, therefore, remains dead, while his student, Yuta, has gained access to his teacher's body, and thus to his abilities as well.
Yuta Okkotsu, by copying Kenjaku’s CT, was able to transfer his consciousness into the body of the late Satoru Gojo, who died in the battle with Sukuna. This plan was decided upon because it provides an opportunity for the already strong Okkotsu himself, to use the abilities of Gojo, who is one of the most powerful figures in the universe, thanks to Six Eyes and his cursed techniques. In turn, this may be the only way to stop Sukuna, with whom no one has stood a chance so far.
How strong is Yuta Okkotsu in Satoru Gojo's body?
It has already been established in JJK that Yuta Okkotsu is one of the most powerful characters. Thanks to his kinship with the Sugawara and/or Fujiwara families, he possesses tremendous cursed energy and potential far greater than Satoru Gojo. However, although both are regarded as among the strongest, they still fell short in their clash with Ryomen Sukuna. However, the opportunity can be seen precisely in the combination of their strengths, so a plan was devised to combine their abilities.
Yuta Okkotsu has great abilities himself, and also has an advantage due to his association with Rika. With her help, he is able to copy almost any cursed technique (which is how he was able to use Kenjaku's ability in the first place). And in addition to his techniques and deposits of cursed energy, he now still has his teacher's abilities, which are considered the most powerful, almost broken.
Additions to Yuta's arsenal now include Six Eyes, Infinity, Lapse: Blue, Reversal: Red, and Hollow Purple. With Gojo's body, he gained far greater abilities than he had on his own, so everyone involved in the plan to transfer Yuta's consciousness to Gojo's body had high hopes for him.
Of course, Yuta has only just taken control of Satoru's body, so it may be doubtful whether he will be able to use his skills, but here a certain advantage provided by Kenjaku’s CT comes to his aid – Okkotsu has not only taken over Gojo's body and skills, he has also gained access to his memories, and with their help Yuta can even use Gojo's domain expansion, as shown at the end of the 261st chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Yuta Okkotsu's origins may be important for future events and his powers
In the 261st chapter of the JJK, the subject of Yuta Okkotsu's ancestry was raised again. In it, it was reported that Yuta came from the Sugawara and/or Fujiwara families. Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 explained that both he and Yuta are distant relatives of Michizane Sugawara, who is one of Japan's three greatest Vengeful Spirits and an important figure in the Jujutsu world. The kinship with Michizane Sugawara is why they both possess tremendous cursed energy.
However, Uro suggested that Yuta is related to the Fujiwara clan (feuding with the Sugawara clan), which is one of the prominent families of sorcerers from the golden age of Jujutsu. They were among the strongest during the Heian period.
Yuta, in the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, tried to clarify with Gojo the question of his ancestry, wondering whether he was ultimately from the Sugawara or Fujiwara clan. Gojo couldn't answer him, but suggested that both options could be correct, which would mean that Yuta Okkotsu is a descendant of two powerful clans from the Jujutsu world. In turn, this makes him likely to have greater potential than Satoru Gojo, which is important information for future events and what Yuta can achieve in a clash with Sukuna using Gojo's abilities.
Especially since Gege Aktuami, the manga's author, certainly didn't revisit this topic for no reason – surely this information will be used in some way in the next chapters, and Yuta will show his true potential. To find out how this will develop further, and how Okkotsu will use his new potential, we'll find out in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 262, which will appear later, as there is currently a week-long hiatus in the release of this title. However, we can expect something big, since Yuta has decided to discard his humanity and become a monster in order to gain access to more power so he can finally defeat Sukuna.
