Hogwarts Legacy Issues Solved on Nvidia GPUs Thanks to New Drivers
Wizards with GeForce GPUs can rest easy - Hogwarts Legacy will run better on their hardware. Nvidia has released a new version of its drivers, improving performance.
Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most anticipated titles of the year. The release is just around the corner (unless you bought the deluxe version, in which case you can play it since a few days) and the reception has been very good. However, quite a problem was faced by Nvidia, on whoseGPUs the title ran noticeably worse.. Fortunately, a driver update is now available, which improves the performance for owners of these GPUs.
GeForce doesn't seem to like witchcraft
The GeForce RTX 4090 is currently the most powerful card available to a gamer (in terms of performance and often size), but not in Hogwarts Legacy. The game did not like the company's cards very much, because it achieved noticeably weaker fps results - even 30 fps less on RTX 4090 against RX 7900 XTX (white the Radeon is significantly weaker). Maybe because Nvidia's green color is also the color of Slytherin?
We've prepared interactive maps for Hogwarts Legacy that contain the game's secrets, collectibles, Merlin trials, collection chests, ancient magic hotspots, sidequests and more. Make sure to check out our original guide and the interactive maps.
Of course I'm kidding, the blame was on the additional CPU/memory overhead introduced by Nvidia's DX12-compatible drivers. Usually it is unnoticeable, but Hogwarts Legacy is unfortunately an exception. The negative impact of this feature was felt in the game, which is why the company is trying to improve it. The drivers in version 528.49 improve performance and are available for download on this page.
As can be seen from the comments, opinions about the new drivers are quite divided. To some, the performance of games has improved somewhat. However, others report worse results, including in Hogwarts Legacy. For some, the title stopped working entirely after the update. It may be worth waiting for a Game Ready driver specifically for the game.
Intel faster to update drivers
Similar problems with Intel graphics cards are unlikely to be reported, although let's not kid ourselves - ARC devices are still not very popular. However, the Santa Clara giant nevertheless came out ahead and was the first to publish the so-called day-0 patch. The driver update numbered 101.4123 brings fixes for a number of games, including Hogwarts Legacy. Wizards with ARC Alchemist chips in the PCIe slot can now cast spells without worrying about their PC's performance.
