Hitman 1 and 2 Free for Hitman 3 Owners; Series Merged as One Platform
The Hitman series is about to see some big changes. They will be felt primarily by owners of the third installment, who will soon receive access to Hitman 1 and 2 content for free as part of the World of Assassination platform.
On the official website of IO Interactive, developers of the Hitman series, posted an important piece of information regarding the future of Agent 47. Later this month, specifically on January 26, the possibility to buy Hitman, Hitman 2 and Hitman 3 separately will disappear. All of these titles will become part of a platform called Hitman: World of Assassination.
Actually, only the third installment is to change its title to the above, and access to the first and second parts will be available through the already existing access pass. This means it will be a single platform containing missions and locations from all three games. The developers explain this decision by the desire to make life easier for both new and existing players, who until now may have had trouble distinguishing between the different game editions and DLCs they own.
What exactly will it look like? On January 26, the Hitman games will disappear from sale on all platforms, and players will have a choice of two purchase options:
- Hitman: World of Assassination - includes Hitman 3, access to H1: Game of the Year Edition and H2 the standard version. The set will cost about $70.
- Hitman: World of Assassination Deluxe Pack - a DLC set containing H3: Deluxe Pack, H3: Seven Deadly Sins Collection and H2: Expansion Access Pass. It will cost about $30.
An important piece of information is also that all current owners of Hitman 3 (regardless of platform) will receive access to content of Hitman and Hitman 2 for free on the day the changes come into force. So this seems to be an ideal opportunity to purchase the latest installment of the series. The more so because the third installment is currently discounted on Steam, until January 5.
In addition, the option to purchase individual DLCs from the upcoming Deluxe Pack is expected to be very simple. There will be a feature on Steam and in the in-game store that will enable you to pay extra only for the specific DLCs you are interested in (e.g. just one of them instead of the entire $30 set). The price of a single expansion will be $10.
