Hideo Kojima is Giving up GDC 2020 Because of Coronavirus
Kojima Productions will not appear at GDC 2020. Hideo Kojima's team decided not to participate in the event due to the threat of coronavirus, thus taking the example from Sony.

The coronavirus does not spare anyone - especially the organizers of all kinds of events like MWC 2020. Another victim of COVID-19 may be the GDC 2020 event in California, which was abandoned by Kojima Productions. As you can guess, this includes Hideo Kojima himself. The father of the Metal Gear series was to give an hour-long lecture about Death Stranding's Design Philosophy, during which he was to talk about the creation of his latest work. Unfortunately, the participants of the conference will have to do without.
The Japanese developer is not the only party that was scared away by the recent development of the new coronavirus epidemic, including the discovery of a new outbreak in Italy. Earlier, Facebook and Sony had resigned from participation, in the latter case continuing the trend of withdrawal from subsequent events such as MWC 2020, PAX East 2020 and - although in this case probably not because of the epidemic - E3 2020. Compared to this, the absence of a single studio seems to be only a small thing, although many will certainly be strongly disappointed with Kojima's decision. The question is, will this be an isolated case, or will this year's edition of GDC be another event that will be influenced by coronavirus?
