RPG Horror Hibernaculum Will Scare the Old-school Way
New video footage from Hibernaculum, a promising horror game developed by the creators of Primordia and Strangeland, has been released.
Known from Primordia and Strangeland Wormwood Studios has released a new gameplay from its next project - the sci-fi horror RPG Hibernaculum.
The video shows, among other things, the interface, exploration and combat. The whole thing adopts retro style and is modeled after old dungeon crawlers. The events are observed from first-person perspective, movement is done by steps, and the player can only rotate 90 degrees.
The authors describe their game as a hybrid of dungeon crawler and survival horror. The game will enable us to explore abandoned Soviet spaceships, which have been transformed into places from nightmares due to Soviet arrogance and cruelty.
Horror dungeon crawlers are not often seen nowadays, but quite a few of them were released in the early 90s. It is enough to mention such titles as The Legacy: Realm of Terror, WaxWorks or the Elvira series. The folks at Wormwood Studios, by the way, cite the latter two as sources of inspiration.
Primordia and Strangeland were very successful adventure games - with a unique atmosphere, visual style and a great storyline. So we are curious to see if the authors will do just as well in a genre new to them.
Hibernaculum is heading exclusively for PC, and for now the developers are not ready to give away the planned release date. The work on the game is financed, among other things, with funds with which fans support the authors through Patreon.
