Hell Let Loose is Company of Heroes gone FPS
Wondering what a combination of Company of Heroes and an FPS would make? Hell Let Loose is your answer - meet the team-based multiplayer "simulation of war", coming to PC next year.
World War II is making a glorious comeback to video games these days, especially when it comes to first-person shooters. Spearheaded with Call of Duty: WWII, coming out next month, followed by Battalion 1944 from Square Enix launching in early access this December, not to mention Day of Infamy released in March 2017.
If that is not enough for you, prepare for Hell Let Loose, a team-based multiplayer shooter with a focus on realism, built on Unreal Engine 4. The project by the studio Black Matter is currently gathering funds on Kickstarter, and it’s doing pretty well – it has already collected almost AU$ 93,000 of the AU$ 136,000 needed, and there are still 27 days to go. If successful, the game will be out on Steam some time in 2018.
“This is a simulation of war... not an arcade arena shooter”, says the official blurb on Kickstarter. Hell Let Loose is going to offer open battles for up to 100 players with infantry, tanks, artillery, and shifting front line. Similarly to the RTS Company of Heroes, in-game maps will be divided into sectors, and capturing them will generate a specific type of resources (fuel, munitions, or infantry reinforcements). Players will serve different roles on the battlefield, depending on their selected character class, such as officer, anti-tank, medic, engineer, support, sniper, tank commander, and more, each of them said to be meaningful and needed.
